N.Y. – Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards believes child abuse training should be a priority. Edwards recently visited Jamestown’s Child Advocacy Program to sign up for Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children™ child sexual abuse prevention training. Syracuse YMCA Leads The Way In Prevention

In December 2011, the Child Advocacy Program launched Stewards of Children, a national initiative that tries to equip communities with the tools needed to end child sexual abuse. The goal is to have 5,000 Chautauqua County adults complete the training over the next five years. Given Chautauqua County’s adult population, the goal of 5,000 people represents nearly 5 percent of the county’s population, which is identified as the tipping point, or the number of adults needed in order to begin to make a behavioral change. …
Child Advocacy Program, others, awarded grants
Twelve agencies are making a difference with the help of grants from the Northern Chautauqua County Foundation (NY). More than $40,343 was awarded to community agencies which will use the money for various projects. The agencies were recently awarded checks at an open house reception. Among those awarded was the Child Advocacy Program (CAP). The CAP program will use grant monies to fund its Steward of Children training and rental fees for a location in Northern Chautauqua County.
