Local Firefighters in Chapel Hill, NC Learn Child Sexual Abuse Prevention
Gigi Krachenfels Reporting CHAPEL HILL – Firefighters from the Chapel Hill Fire Department are now being trained in the prevention of child sexual abuse. Seventy members of the fire department attended the Darkness to Light (D2L) Stewards of Children Workshop, held by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA. The workshop instructs participants how to recognize, respond, and prevent child sexual abuse. NC Johnson Interns Shed Light on Abuse
“Darkness to Light seemed like a good organization for us to get involved with,” says Leandra Lambert, a Johnson intern. The Johnson Intern Program is a Chapel-Hill, NC based initiative that selects 8 young adults to serve for 10 months in local non-profit organizations. This year the interns have decided to promote the Stewards of Children program. Durham meeting aims to raise awareness of child sexual abuse
Preventing sexual abuse of children and raising awareness of the problem were the main focus of a meeting this week in Durham and Chapel Hill at the downtown Durham YMCA.
