Delaware AG Biden Seeks Funding Support for Stewards
Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden asked the legislature’s budget-writing committee today to approve funding for training 10,000 adults to recognize the signs of child abuse and report it to authorities. Recent AP article highlights the D2L/YMCA community prevention efforts
The Associated Press published an article over the weekend about the child protection efforts by national youth serving organizations including the YMCA. The article specifically mentions the work local YMCAs are doing to increase awareness and educate adults in the community. Partnering in Prevention Steering Committee
On December 8th and 9th YMCA CEOs, Darkness to Light, and The Redwoods Group Foundation came together to discuss child sexual abuse prevention. The Partnering in Prevention Steering committee was originally formed in August of this year, and the group continues to meet on a quarterly basis to further prevention efforts among YMCAs and their communities. This month we finalized a dramatic leap forward in our mission in the form of partnership with a group of large YMCA’s up and down the eastern seaboard. As an organization this means we are moving out of start-up phase and into a true large-scale operating phase.
