Hockomock YMCA to raise awareness about CSA by using D2L programs

Across the country YMCA’s and D2L are working together to help prevent child sexual abuse.  One of these Y’s is the Hockomock YMCA in MA. They are working with their 5 member communities to bring awareness and offer Stewards of Children trainings. They have had tremendous support from their community as they work towards training 5% of their adult population. Great example of media doing it right

Arlington Texas city employees step up big time for prevention

Our good friends at the Alliance for Children in Fort Worth Texas and all of their partner organizations are on a mission to train 75,000 adults  in Tarrant County.  The latest group to come on board for this important initiative are the employees with the city of Arlington.  Dozens of Arlington city employees, including parks and recreation staff, day camp leaders, and after-school program workers are learning how to prevent, recognize and react to child sexual abuse through the Stewards of Children program.  Read more …

Lumpkin County School district in GA trains all of its educators

A big shout out to the Lumpkin County School District for training 100% of their staff in Stewards of Children.   Lumpkin County becomes the first school district in the state of GA to accomplish this important goal.  We applaud Superintendent, Dewey Moye, and all of the teachers for taking this giant step towards the prevention of child sexual abuse!  Read more here.

What some Massachusetts public schools are doing to protect children

St. Matthews Recognized as D2L “Partner In Prevention”

Have you heard of Partner in Prevention yet? If not, check it out on our website under “prevention programs”. I am proud to say that many  Tri-County area groups are qualifying.  As each group qualifies, you will see them recognized on our blog! A big congratulations to St. Matthews Lutheran Church! They are our most recent Partner in Prevention. To date, St. Matthews has trained over 140 people including staff and volunteers. Way to go St. Matthews!

Great Turn Out for Recent Prevention Training

Forty-six people attended the Stewards of Children training on January 15 at the Kalahari Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. Jessica Ritschke, a community educator for Hope House of South Central Wisconsin and Authorized Facilitator of D2L, led the session. Jessica says, “We had great discussions and a variety of participants – child care providers, foster parents, school staff, law enforcement, human services staff, and more.” A reporter with the Dells Events attended and published a story about the successful event. 2010 Numbers are in for Tri-County Trainings

We recently had a meeting with one of our grantors that required us to take a hard look at our numbers for 2010. I knew that we had reached tipping point and had a running tally of how many adults we have trained each month. A prevention movement taking root in Louisiana

Child sexual abuse prevention training has been ongoing in Louisiana for some time through the work of a few dedicated professionals throughout the state.  But with the recent addition of community awareness meetings and the formation of a coalition more adults are being trained than ever.  Case in point, a principal with Bridgetown Elementary School in Metairie who attended a meeting, committed to training all of the school faculty.  The training took place on Tuesday, January 4th and was covered by The Times Picayune.  Click here …
