Child Advocacy Center holds official opening – Carroll County, Georgia

The Carroll County Child Advocacy Center has been in operation about two months now, but center leaders and local municipal officials on Thursday made the opening official. Board members and their children and grandchildren lined up near the center’s outdoor sign to cut the traditional ribbon, while camera shutters clicked and officials offered their praises. On April 14, the CBS show 60 Minutes aired an interview between correspondent Lesley Stahl and R. A. Dickey, pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays. Dickey’s story in and of itself is quite interesting – a would-be star pitcher whose upper six-figure starting salary plummeted 90 percent after an x-ray revealed the absence of a key ligament in his right elbow. SCARS helps youth workers identify sexual abuse cases in Bermuda

AG Biden gets “Champion for Children” award

State Attorney General Beau Biden is the recipient of Prevent Child Abuse Delaware’s “Champion for Children” award. The chidrens’ advocacy group Friday presented Biden with the award in recognition of his creation of the state’s Child Predator Unit and Stewards of Children Program, and implementation of parts of the Adam Walsh Act.
